Everyone Interested in Amateur Radio…

You are invited to become a member of the NRVARC or to renew your membership in the club. If you are new to the area or are not involved in a local amateur radio organization, we encourage you to visit our club and become acquainted with members of the amateur radio community from the New River Valley. Club members are involved in a wide range of enjoyable amateur radio activities. These activities include attending our monthly meetings, helping provide communications for public service events such as the Mountains of Misery Bike Ride and the Wilderness Road Bike Ride, checking in to weekly nets on our repeaters, and participating in ARRL Field Day. We also get together for breakfast on Saturday mornings at a local restaurants.

For those who are interested in severe weather events, our club cooperates with SKYWARN, the amateur radio spotter system of the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Blacksburg. Club members are encouraged to take free SKYWARN training from the NWS and to check in to SKYWARN nets on our
repeaters.

One of our major annual events is the national ARRL Field Day held on the fourth full weekend in June.

Our Field Day site is located at the Randolph Park Complex (map) in Dublin. At Field Day, you will find hams using Morse code, voice, and sometimes digital modes. All club members and friends are welcome at Field Day, whether or not you have previous experience on the HF bands or in a contest-like operating event.

The club has an e-mail listserv that you are welcome to join, so you can keep up to date with announcements and other information of interest to club members. Information on how to sign up for the listserv are sent to members after joining.

We offer amateur radio license exams 4 times a year at the public library in Radford under the auspices of the ARRL VEC.

All amateurs are welcome to check into the weekly nets on our repeater network. The N4NRV FM Net meets on Sundays and Thursdays at 8:00 p.m, giving you the opportunity to learn about net operation in a relaxed setting and to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow hams.
